Episodes Notes

When Jinger was growing up, she zealously promoted the Basic Life Principles of Bill Gothard, a man who would come to be accused by some of running a cult and using his religious authority to take advantage of young women (although never legally convicted). Jinger was convinced that obeying the rules of Gothard’s teachings was the key to success. However, in private, she suffered from social anxiety and lived in constant terror of not living up to the expectations of God—and of others.
She has since been able to free herself from this, and she is sharing about it in her new book, Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear.
Today on Connections, Jinger shares how she was able to find freedom.
